Who Cares?

I blogged a lot back when blogging was a thing (back before social media). Back then, I wrote mostly about whatever was bouncing around in my head (which often clothed itself in a confessional tone). And, it wouldn’t be too far off to say it was my attempt to stay sane by exorcising my mental demons.

In this day and age, though, it feels like that could be dangerous (and maybe it was then, too, but I was young). There are a lot of people out there trying to capitalize on other people or to score some points at someone else’s expense. And, the web is just more populated with non-techies than it was then (with all that that brings).

In thinking about blogging, again, I oscillate between thinking: 1) maybe I shouldn’t post personal thoughts and opinions so publicly now, and 2) who cares what I have to say (and, in particular, in some random personal blog)? I don’t know where I’ll land on this(*), but it’s definitely on my mind as I open the doors on the new blog.

* One possibility is to put certain posts behind a login. I don’t think Hugo has any way to do this natively, but I’m sure I could establish some convention that accomplished the goal in conjunction with my Caddy (webserver) config.
